CodeLantern is now listed in GitHub Marketplace

The CodeLantern GitHub app has a public listing. Admins can find it, install it on the repositories they choose, and see exactly what it is asking for before agreeing to anything.

You could already install the CodeLantern GitHub app from the portal, and for most teams that is still the shortest path. What is new is that it also has a public Marketplace listing: it turns up when someone searches GitHub for it, and an admin can install it from there the way they install anything else.

Publishing the listing is part of joining the GitHub Technology Partner Program, which we are now a member of.

What the app does

It keeps your issues, projects, and pull requests current while skills run. Work items move across your project board as the workflow advances, and a comment on an issue or pull request can dispatch a cloud skill without anyone opening a terminal.

You choose what it can see

Installation is per-repository. You pick the repositories the app may access, GitHub shows you the permissions before you agree to them, and you can change the selection or remove the app at any point from your organization’s settings. Nothing is granted across your whole account by default.

Installing is also not the same as being switched on. The app and your CodeLantern organization are separate grants, and both have to be in place before skills can do anything with your work.

Two ways in, same result

From the portal, connect your organization’s installation under Integrations. From GitHub, someone with permission to install GitHub Apps for your organization opens the listing, chooses the repositories, and installs.

Either way, register the repositories you want CodeLantern working in under Repositories. If your organization isn’t onboarded yet, talk to us before installing so we can get the access approval in place.

Availability

Generally available to CodeLantern customer organizations. Onboarding and access approval are still required; installing the GitHub App does not activate CodeLantern access on its own.
